VICTORIAN OR GEORGIAN
Two period styles, one clear difference.
The quickest way to tell them apart is the front. A Georgian conservatory keeps a flat, symmetrical frontage on a rectangular plan, while a Victorian conservatory steps forward in a faceted bay, usually of three or five sides, under a steeply pitched roof. That bay is the whole point. It gives you garden views from three directions instead of one, catches light through more of the day, and produces the ornate silhouette most people picture when they hear the word conservatory. Gothic arched glazing, detailed front gables and decorative ridge work all belong to the same tradition, and on the right house they look superb.
We build Victorian conservatories with the detail the period demands: correct glazing bar patterns, finials and cresting where the design calls for them, and a bay set out so the roof geometry resolves cleanly rather than fudged at the hips. On a period property, especially one with existing bays or steep rooflines, this is the style that will sit most naturally against the original architecture. If your home is plainer or strictly rectangular, the Georgian style may suit it better, and we will tell you honestly which way we would go before you commit.
