A pergola from Glass House Architecture turns a patio into an outdoor room that adjusts itself to the day. Each one is built in premium powder-coated aluminium with rotating louvred roof blades: open them for sun and airflow, angle them for shade, or close them fully into a rain-tight roof with water carried away through the posts.
Free-standing in the garden or mounted against the house, every pergola is tailored to your space, with optional sliding glass sides, vertical screens, LED lighting and infrared heating. Weather sensors can adjust the louvres for you, closing the roof at the first sign of rain whether you are under it or not. Installed across the UK, and designed around how you will actually use it.

What is a louvred pergola?
An aluminium-framed outdoor structure with a roof of rotating blades. Open them for sun and airflow, angle them for shade, or close them fully into a rain-tight roof.
Is a pergola waterproof?
Yes. With the louvres closed, the roof seals against rain and the water drains away through concealed gutters inside the posts.
Can a pergola be used all year round?
Yes. With the roof closed and optional glass sides, screens and heating, it works as a comfortable outdoor room in every season.
Does a pergola need planning permission?
Usually not. Most fall within permitted development, though rules differ for listed buildings and conservation areas. We advise on this during the design visit.
Can I add glass sides, lighting or heating?
Yes. Sliding glass panels, vertical screens, LED lighting and infrared heating are all available, fitted at the start or added later.
