Case Study: Period Conservatory in Hertfordshire
The conservatory was designed to complement a Grade II-listed Georgian vicarage in a quaint village in Hertfordshire. Fitting perfectly within its picturesque landscape, this classic structure highlights the range which our designers can deliver on any brief.
This elegant gabled structure is a dining room extension that allows stunning views of the grounds and church under which it nestles. Slender glazing bars were deliberately chosen for the way they complement the fine glazing bars of the adjoining Georgian home, and yet we were still able to provide double-glazing, essential in a modern glazed room. The new conservatory follows the line of an original conservatory built around 1900, and we planned the height of the ridge to match that of the original.
The details have been impeccably reproduced, and the dentil moulding on both the conservatory and the main house is worth noting. Careful and sympathetic design helped our architectural team win planning consent, and the end result is a delightful enhancement that adds light and space to the house.
